All of the candidates for the four open school board seats should be recognized for making the commitment to campaign, particularly those who are running against incumbents.

In Area 4, Dr. Gina Nick is trying to unseat an incumbent who said that 12 years was a sufficient term for a trustee but now wants to serve 16.

In Area 2, Michelle Murphy is up against an incumbent who has served four years with little to show for the effort. (Attending school plays, graduation ceremonies, and cutting ribbons doesn’t count.) In fact, I cannot think of a single program or innovation, or even a concept, that has been championed by either incumbent.

That is one of the main reasons why we need new trustees.

Tonight you can meet school board candidate Michelle Murphy and dine on the delicious and famous Sgt. Pepperoni’s pizzas.
