I was forwarded a notice of a meeting tomorrow night at 6 p.m. at California El featuring – gasp! – Supt. Frederick Navarro. And! According to the notice (see below) – you can ask ANY question. Just think… no 3 minute time limit, no silly card to hand out, no nothing – just you and the super.

It’s about time. I wrote this before and I’m writing it again: Say what you want about Jeff Hubbard, but he would have attended the Mariners meetings.

I urge all to attend, but particularly parents of kids at Cal El or Mariners, I urge you to attend. Questions to ask (yes, the first 3 are intentional):

  1. Why are you supporting the Swun Math program when so many teachers and parents dislike it?
  2. Why are you supporting the Swun Math program when so many teachers and parents dislike it?
  3. Why are you supporting the Swun Math program when so many teachers and parents dislike it?
  4. Why did you remove a beloved principal (at Cal) instead of finding a new (outside) principal to take over Mariners?
  5. Why didn’t you give the Mariners parents an opportunity to tell the district the characteristics they’d like to see in a new principal, the way you have done with other schools?
  6. Why didn’t you recommend to the trustees that they give John Caldecott a hearing so he could tell his side of the story?
  7. Why do you support paying one of your deputies not to retire?
  8. Why did these payments to the deputy not appear on the agenda until the last school board (club) meeting?
  9. Why did the district state that it will find another position for Laura Sacks before the final report on her involvement in the Gold Ribbon report was established?
  10. If the report finds that she is guilty of “untruths and inaccuracies,” what consequences will she pay?
  11. If anyone else was involved in creating “untruths and inaccuracies” in the Mariners Gold Ribbon application, what consequences will they pay?
  12. To what extent are you trying to determine whether other schools may have “untruths and inaccuracies” in their Gold Ribbon applications?
  13. Do you support electing trustees by area or do you support the current district-wide voting process? State which one and the reasons for your support.
  14. How do you justify recommending raises and perks for the top brass in the administration while you offer teachers scraps in the current compensation negotiations?

Oh, and of course, this one:

Why are you supporting the Swun Math program when so many teachers and parents dislike it?

There’s more, but you get the idea.
